What this site is

GemRecap is an independent editorial site about free-to-play gem and block puzzle games available on Google Play. Everything published here is informational: recaps describe how a game plays after a week at the desk, and any verdict is the opinion of the editors.

Nothing here is advice, and no outcome is promised. The only figures presented as fact are the Google Play score and review count on each entry, which are reproduced as the store displayed them on the day of our last check and may since have moved.

Advertising disclosure

The catalogue and the recaps are free to read, with no account required. The site is funded by paid promotion of games and by GemRecap Plus memberships: some links, placements and entries on this site are advertising, and clicking them may be attributed to us by the advertiser.

Paid promotion never determines what a recap says, and it never alters the store figures we reproduce. Where a game is promoted, the editorial text is written the same way as for every other title on the shelf. Holding a Plus membership does not change what is published either.

Plus membership

GemRecap Plus is an optional paid membership offered by the desk itself. It adds extended recaps — detailed notes on mechanics, pace and difficulty — early access to new recaps, a weekly e-mail digest written by the editors, and the archive of past issues. Everything already published in the catalogue stays free to read without it.

Rates. A$4.90 per month or A$39 per year. Rates are in Australian dollars and include GST where it applies. If a rate changes we tell members first, and the new rate only takes effect at the following renewal.

Seats and billing. Plus seats open in stages. Joining the Plus list places you in the queue; we confirm your seat by e-mail, and nothing is billed until that confirmation is sent and you have completed the first payment. Payments are handled by an external payment provider under its own terms — card details are entered on the provider's side and the desk neither sees nor stores them.

Cancelling. You may cancel at any time, using the link in any digest or by writing to the desk. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access to Plus material continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further payment is taken after that.

Your rights. Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees available to you under Australian Consumer Law, including your rights if the membership is not supplied as described here. No affiliation

GemRecap is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to Google LLC, Google Play, or any of the studios whose games are listed here. "Google Play" and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.

Intellectual property

Game names, icons, screenshots, promotional artwork and trademarks belong to their respective developers and publishers, and appear here only to identify the titles being written about, under fair dealing for the purposes of review and reporting.

The written recaps, the editorial criteria, the page design, the layout and the GemRecap name and wordmark belong to GemRecap. You may quote a short extract with a visible credit and a link to the page it came from; wholesale copying of the recaps is not permitted.

Links to other sites

Entries link out to Google Play listings and, in some places, to advertisers. Those destinations are run by other people under their own terms and privacy policies. We check the destination when we publish, but we cannot monitor what happens on a page we do not control, and we accept no responsibility for it.

Availability and accuracy

The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We try to keep the catalogue current and accurate, but we do not warrant that it is complete, error-free or continuously available, and a game may change, be updated or be delisted after we have written about it.

To the extent permitted by law, GemRecap excludes liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of this site or reliance on anything published here. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to interfere with the site, scrape it at a rate that degrades service for others, or reproduce it in a way that suggests your copy is the original.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts.

Changes and contact

We may amend these terms; the date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the amended version.
